A practitioner of Eastern medicine for going on 20 years, I hold a Masters in Traditional Oriental Medicine, a Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, and have done additional training in Orthopedic acupuncture. My doctorate was heavily weighted toward the integration of Western and Eastern medicine, as well as on the use of clinical research to better understand the mind, body, and spirit
I came to Chinese Medicine by way of martial arts, first studying Tai Chi and Qi Gong, and am a firm believer in the need for daily meditation. In terms of acupuncture styles, I’m especially interested in the use of the extraordinary meridians and secondary vessels to achieve more profound healing on the physical, spiritual, and psycho-emotional levels. Over the last 2 decades, I have seen my patients go from being stressed to almost all having at least a touch of anxiety… and that was pre-pandemic!
When we are constantly stressed and anxious, our fight-or-flight impulse is in constant activation, and our bodies aren’t paying attention to the activities necessary for daily living, such as a strong immune system. When this goes on over weeks, months, even years, it’s almost impossible for our nervous systems to “stand down” without help. Acupuncture can provide that assistance in resetting the nervous system so that your body, mind, and spirit can heal themselves. I like to think of acupuncture as GPS for your systems… it helps provide the route for the return to wellness.
I look forward to welcoming you to Heal in Community, and to bringing all my experience and knowledge to the table (or chair!) to help you achieve your wellness goals.
